In Gothenburg, a century-old townhouse has been transformed and now houses several apartments, including this one under the roof. This 44 square meters attic apartment evokes country life, with its charming volumes, even if we are here in one of the largest Swedish cities. It gives a rather superior impression of space, but this is the living area which does not take into account what is under the slope.
We find this incredibly cozy attic apartment with a charming pitched roof, beautiful dormers, preserved mirror doors, and patinated wooden floors. The sun shines in the morning and in the evening, and in both directions, there is a nice view. The layout is perfect and adjacent to the hall one flight up from the front door is a space that can be advantageously furnished as a home office. Note that the punishable floor area due to the pitched roof is larger than the 44 square meters stated in the apartment register.
It’s sloping ceiling, its skylights, its glass doors dating from the construction, and its parquet floor painted in white give it a luminous look. The surface is well distributed between a living room sufficient to receive, a kitchen where the dining room has been placed, a large bedroom, and a bathroom. The decoration does not do too much, nor too little, with the omnipresent white so as not to spoil the brightness that comes from the many windows. But we added color in the bedroom, a sober blue, and green in the hallway, two tones that give a more original look to the interior of the apartment.
Living room
A dormer in the southeast fills the apartment’s living room with light and morning sun. The room has a cozy atmosphere and invites you to quiet TV evenings or pre-drinks with friends. There is room for a sofa, armchair, TV bench, and more, and excellent storage options are offered in the form of a spacious wardrobe wall. The walls and wooden floor are painted white.
Kitchen
The kitchen has room for a large dining table and here you eat breakfast in the morning sun. From the attic in the southeast, there is a nice view of the house’s leafy courtyard and the apartment’s own patio. There is plenty of workspaces and the kitchen worktops are oak with a built-in stove and sink. The parts above the benches are covered with light mosaics. There is also a good amount of storage and the cupboards have white doors and drawers with black knobs. The oven and fan are in a stainless design, while the fridge/freezer is integrated into the interior. The kitchen is also equipped with a dishwasher. The walls are painted white and the floor is covered with oak parquet. The beautifully plastered firewall and brickwork is a charming detail.
Bedroom
In the bedroom, light and the evening sun poured in through a skylight in the northwest. The room has room for a double bed and here you sleep well at night. Good storage options for clothes, bed linen, and more are offered in the form of a spacious wardrobe built in the old style. The manufactured wooden floor is painted white and the walls of the room are painted a calming blue-gray color.
Bathroom
The apartment’s fresh bathroom contains a shower corner, sink, wall cabinet, and toilet. The brick wall is plastered white and the rest of the bathroom is fully tiled in white. The floor is covered with turquoise mosaics with underfloor heating.
Hallway and home office
From the front door, an original grey-painted staircase leads up to a hall where the evening sun shines in through a beautiful skylight with slatted window glass. The hall gossips about the apartment’s charm and one of the walls is decorated with original sheeting painted in a nice green-grey color. As in the living room and bedroom, the wooden floor is painted white. The hall is spacious and there is plenty of space for a hat shelf, shoe rack, bench, and more. The space to the right of the stairs can be furnished as a home office or as a sleeping loft for overnight guests.
