Minwook Choi desired to live close to his place of employment because he views time as being extremely valuable. But, due to the high cost of living in Seoul, it appeared difficult for him to purchase an apartment on his present income. Minwook Choi then applied for a piece of land close to his place of employment after deciding to construct his own home.
This site, which was in the middle of Seoul, was so little that no one had ever imagined that a structure, much alone a house, could be constructed there. Minwook Choi was able to buy the land since the price of this long-unused piece of land became appealing.
On this tiny piece of land, he and his wife couldn’t possibly construct a suitable home. Since they couldn’t construct the entire house next to one another, it could only be a vertical house. After that, they designed and constructed the Seroro House, a five-story skyscraper that bears the comfort of an entire house and means “vertical” in Korean.
Five rooms each measuring 16 square meters were stacked on top of one another to create this compact home. The building’s ground floor is designated as a parking area for automobiles. On the upper floor, a living room is established as a place to relax and unwind after a long day.
On the third floor, there is the dining room, where there is a fully equipped kitchen and a large table where guests can be entertained.
On the 4th floor, there is a bedroom with its own bathroom.
On the last floor, there is a laundry room, a large bathroom, and many cupboards that can be used as a storage area.
The modest house is situated in the heart of the city directly on the slope of a lush park. The south and west facades of the home are where the windows are located. The western windows provide a stunning view of greenery, while the southern windows let in the daylight. According to Minwook, “Seeing the trees from every floor in the park offers us an idea of the seasons and time.”
In keeping with how the site is shaped, one corner of the building is curved. According to Minwook, the structure’s architecture makes it look like a lighthouse and inspires awe among onlookers.
In addition to the people that live there, the cats in the house adore this tiny home a lot. It’s like an entertainment park to them, said Minwook. We believe it to be the largest cat tower in the world, he claims.
